Looking forward to your canal trip here in the near future. Love your biking trips!
Pretty Hollow is about 5.6 miles from parking lot to Mt. Sterling Ridge. If you think that something, there another route called Baxter Creek trail that 6.1 miles long with over 4,000 feet of elevation gain. (Baxter Creek is from Big Creek campground area to Mt. Sterling) Going down that would be knee blowing!

Another great video MM. Spamburglar and I were also in the park, a Noland Divide/Creek downhill trip. Waking up to 44 degrees (2500') was a bit warmer than your night on Mt Sterling but we now need to start packing the mittens. Where was your Flavor Flav thermometer?

Roche,Flavor Fav retired HA! Glad you and Spammy were in the park-getting ready for the BSF
Cranky Bear, you've got a place to stay in the JC area if you need one on the way to the park.
FlaRider, 20 feet at most from the elk.
Elavation gain was posted above. The loop using Baxter Creek we've got scheduled for next spring, late spring; I want to carry as little as possible on that route but this time I was crazy enough to tote the real camera and a tripod.
Yes looking forward to the C.O, not physically recovered from Sterling yet but will bike again today-luckily on the C/O don't have to worry about carrying too much food; we'll plan the clothes once we can get a good 5 day forecast.

I was reading a trip report on another site and someone tried to sleep on the roof of the fire tower on Mt Sterling. Needless he didn't make it thru the night because of the high winds.

I hear you on that. Since Hamhocker got a job she is working every weekend. That basically stops any weekend trips unless I go without her. It is very tempting to do that too
