    I took the bag off and converted it into a bishop bag. I left the strap on it to compress it, but the clip doesn't work so well, so that strap might go soon too.

    So what did you do? did you take the strap or bag off?
    I took my strap off and kept the bag as well, I like the bag, use it a lot.

    I saw no real benefit or use for the strap, so it was removed.

    I use it to attach it to my bag so I am going to keep in on for as long as it will stay!

    I use the bag strap. I cinch it around the hammock to help keep it from parachuting in winds when I am not in it. ....Or from being a crap cup when there is no tarp.

    I second this! Great idea for those of us that have to deal with high winds.

    Well, I was just about to say that I was going to remove my strap as I have never found a use for it... Then I read all of this thread. Anti Crap Cup! I use the pouch for my droid phone/camera... I'm not a huge fan of electronics on camp outs but they do have a purpose and if you are running a weatherbug type app they can alert you to incoming weather.
