Quote; You really think I can get a TQ and UQ down to under 3 pounds? I should play with the under quilt calculator and see how lightly I can build a 30 degree TQ and UQ. My 3 to 3 1/2 pound guess was for a super warm 3 degree setup which I could use all year. I had considered making 2 sets of TQ and UQ: one for 3 season; one for winter. But balked at the cost of building 2 of them. But if I can save another pound or so it may be worth building the 3 season quilts first since that's what I'll use most of the time.Quote

I would take an look at how often you camp in winter and what temps you would experience. A 3 season setup that would take you down to about 20F would be about 37oz. using 900 fill down. For 30 degree you would have no problem being about 37oz for TQ+UQ using 800 or 850 down,,,of course that depends a bit on what your nylon cover material is. If you spend 90% of your time in three season weather i would focus on that and supplement with clothes, pads, wind sock etc ,,,things like that, but in the end its your hike so you'll know what you want best.BTW, you could put Thunders food or what ever he would carry in dry bags, that way it won't matter if he jumps in the pond,,,of course if he rolls in poo well that's another story.

Bravo! I'm in the process of doing exactly what you have done. It's nice to know there are some hangers up here in NorCal.

Well good to see you out and about in the woods. Cutting weight is a constant goal....and fun.

I agree that it is better to split videos into shorter videos. Folks are more apt to watch if they see it is 10 minutes. Our short attention span society
When I see a 30 minute or longer video I feel I have to set aside some time to view. My 3¢ worth of palaver.
