    Setup on straight branch?

Can you setup a hammock on just one branch that goes straight out? I am not sure if u just spread out where its tied up to on the branch or have it right close together to make something like a seat?

I am just wanting to hangout in it and not sure if that would be comfortable. I am trying to put it on a branch that goes over a lake..

Yes you can. Rigging your tarp can be problematic, but it can be done as well.
Just make sure the branch is strong enough.

Sure it can be done, and probably comfortably if the branch is long enough. The turtledog stand works on this principle by suspending the hammock from a steel pipe--like this:

The important question is how sturdy is the branch you plan to hang from? If it goes, so do you--and into water. That could make for some high adrenaline hanging

Sounds like an intriguing (and probably beautiful) hang though. Post pics if you decide it's safe enough to give it a whirl.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Sure, provided the single branch is strong enough to handle all of your weight. Functionally you can hang with the hammock with a lot of sag or minimal just depends on how far apart you set the straps. I would play with hanging the straps from 6 foot to 15 foot apart on the branch and see where in there feels best.

O and be sure to post pictures, didn't happen without pictures.

Okay thanks guys! I am definitely and going to try it now! The branch is extremely sturdy and long enough. I will post some pictures when I go not this weekend but the next. Its over a sinkhole where the water gets really deep and a pretty blue in the spring. It will definitely be an adrenaline hang as its 35 ft up

I've done it before, always over open water. Problem is that I've usually needed Alot of suspension to get a good hang.
35 feet up! I would love to be up there, but not sure I could fall asleep.
