10x8 is frankly small for a "winter tarp". You can "sort of" close up the ends if you place the tieouts right, but it won't protect the bottom of the hammock from wind very much at all.
That said, it's not like a dedicated winter tarp is absolutely required for winter camping. Good site selection and a tight tarp pitch can help a lot, and if you're still worried about wind, a simple DIY ripstop hammock sock can add a lot of warmth and wind blocking under a smaller tarp.
