Batona Trail 9/29-9/30 Batsto to Batona Camp & Back

Trying to increase my trail mileage per day so I wanna go about 12 to 15 miles. I think it's 13 miles Batsto to Batona Camp. I was thinking about Buttonwood to Batona as well to add a few miles.

    Anybody else wanna come?

Yes, I am going. I was hoping for crappy weather since less people seem to go camping then. Still, a high of 71 and lows of 51 sounds like pretty fine hiking/camping weather to me.

I was thinking of arriving at Batsto around noon or 12:30 pm on Saturday, but I'm flexible. I don't know if the ticks are still an issue, but when I did the Batsto to Quaker Bridge section a couple of months ago they were bad. Since then, I've been taking the Mullica River trail, then taking the crossover trail to Quaker Bridge. The trails are wider on Mullica and you aren't brushing up against bushes like on the Batona - less ticks.

On the way back, I don't mind taking the Batona Trail to Batsto from Quaker Bridge - I'm not as worried about ticks when I know I'll be home in a few hours and can remove them before they get dug in. I'm not taking any chances - I'm spraying my pants and boots with permethrin and bringing bug spray.

Let me know if that's a plan.

Ticks are still rough, bugoff clothes and spray along w/ all the usual precautions.

I'm thinking about dropping the canoe in at Atsion and paddling down to the campsite at MRW or lower forge, walk over to batona right around meal time.

Making a couple calls now, see if I can get the nephew and bro in law to join.
    Will check back in.

How do you look for Bigfoot? Is there a technique? Special equipment? Or do you just walk around with a bewildered look on your face?
