For those of you looking for an inexpensive tarp

    http://www.meijer.com/s/coleman-2-po...ade/_/R-129529

It probably isn't the lightest thing in the world, but it'll get the job done.

We have one of those as the rain/sun protection for the adult kitchen for Boy Scout Leaders. It's big enough for a camp kitchen and four adults in folding chairs. I thought about getting one for my hammock.

It did fine for us. Rained from 12 noon to 12 midnight, and we were cozy under it. I would just like to know the weight without poles. The total weight (according to Amazon) is 6.1 lbs.

We had the larger versions (4 pole) for the Boys, and those worked well also. Much better than the old EZ-out canopies we had.

    Weight

I'm curious to know what these weigh as well. I saw somwhere that it's "75D", so I would imagine that it's similar in weight to, say, a Hennessy Hex Tarp (the heavier version).

The diagonal for a tarp like that is roughly 8.5 feet. A little small for most hammocks. Given those are unhemmed sizes, the final length will be even smaller than that.

That Walmart tarp is too small for anything but a small childs hammock.
