Hammocking:

05:28 using the SEEP of the Dirigible as a simple cover over me
07:59 wrapping the tarp portion of the Dirigible tightly around the hammock
sock for severe wind
09:00 Neutron's single layer m55 tested for 2 nights by Poof, makes me wish
I was 30 pounds lighter
This hike was a killer on both of us. 3000 feet of gain is one thing but the Pretty Hollow Gap trail was realy rocky and the loose under the feet type of rock, insult upon us as the last mile of the Pretty Hollow had recent trail work and it was like walking in sand or snow-2 steps up one step back.
The first campsite 39 would be an awesome group hang site, 2 miles from Cataloochee and maybe 200-300 feet of gain but almost limitless trees to hang from. Campsite 38 on top of Mt. Sterling was very reminiscent of Roan=big wind and very cold; but the views from the tower well worth it.
Special thanks again to Gredemeer for the MSR Titan mod, to Neutron for the opportunity to test the m55 hammock, to DrZooz at BPL for the custom Ti grill for the FireFly.
Great trip and I'll be sore for a few days:
