Cat cuts on a cuben tarp?

    Hello All

I've bought the materials, trimmed the mylar edge off the cuben, decided on dimensions, tie out placement, etc, etc.

This is going to be a rectangluar tarp 10.5'X8.5' so I can get some wind relief by closing the corners. Now, does anyone have an opinion (like I need to ask ) on whether I should do cat cuts or leave it straight ? I was thinking a straight ridgeline with shallow (3") cuts on the sides.

    Anyone?

Cat cuts on the base edge aren't really necessary and I'd rather have the coverage near the ground for low pitch in wind. Cat cuts on the ridgeline is a different matter, I prefer a slight cat.

Cuben doesn't stretch like silnylon does, so the cuts aren't needed to keep a cuben tarp taut, the way they do with a sil tarp. All the cuts would do on a CF tarp is reduce your coverage.

    Thanks everyone!

Makes sense re: the lack of stretch on cuben. Will omit the cat cuts and get the tarp done.

    Thanks again,
