I've been lurking about for a while, educating myself and have completed a few DIY projects. I am in the process of making a Silnylon tarp and am wondering in anyone has ever tried "gluing" the 2 halves together with a little bit of silicone along the ridge prior to sewing them together? That stuff is really slippery and I am worried I won't be able to control it while stitching. Any thoughts?

Gluing the halves together can cause problems with gumming up your needle or other parts of the sewing machine. If you use folder clips, they're cheap and have a very strong hold. You can clip the material together and sew right along removing clips as you go.
Certainly people have siliconed on a patch and then also sewn it. I'm not sure it would be worth the effort on something like a ridge line. In a perfect world to make it the best bond possible you'd want to clamp or weight the entire RL and let it dry completely before sewing. Much easier to just pin or in my case I use barrettes to hold the seam together while sewing. Make a few practice runs and you'll find sil not as bad as you think.

Put pins across the stitch line every few inches. Do _not_ put them in-line. Crosswise provides more structural integrity and prevents slipping along the body of the pin. Plus it is easier to pull the pin as you stitch. Don't worry about the pin holes cause you are going to seam seal it any way.
