pad recomendations

I don't have money for a UQ what s
ort of foam pad should I use.

On my thru hike I ditched my UQ after GA for a ZRest pad (accordian style,
yellow one side, gray on the other). That was THEE best pad for me in my Hennessey Hyperlite.
I tried a thinner 1/8 rolls that Lawson has for about a week.
The ZRest was just much more comprehensive.
And it could double as a sit pad while hiking.

two walmart 3/8 inch blue pads will be less than $20 total. Cut one of them to fit the width of the hammock and place it perpendicular to the other so that it is under your torso. leftover piece can be cut/used to make cozies or as additional small pad to place as needed in the hammock. This works best in a double layer hammock.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm not the OP but been struggling with the decision of what to do for bottom insulation. Your enthusiastic endorsement led me to order one of these from Amazon. I have a feeling I'll end up with a UQ, but this is a good start.

It has kept me warmer than my thermarest,

For my first hang in temps down to about freezing I'll be using a combination of half a Zlite accordion pad crossways under my upper torso & shoulders, plus either a Thermarest self-inflating pad or an old 3/8" ccf pad I have on hand, sandwiched between the double layers of a WBBB.

Given your experience with your Thermarest, would you say the ccf would provide noticably better insulation?
