Orange you glad you read this

Won a a set of Dutch Buckles at the Grayson Park Fall Hang this past weekend. Thanks Dutch. I also won the prototypes of the Buckles at last years hang. I guess I am getting to see the evolution of the product.

What caught my eye was this set was Orange, yes orange. There was also a set of Dutch Clips at the raffle that were orange. Maybe this is a new trend and we will see Dutch Gear in all sorts of colors...camo maybe.

And yes I have a Dutch addiction.

I dropped a Dutch clip one time, right at my feet. It took me 15 minutes to find it. Orange is good

some time ago, Dutch was toying with the idea of anodizing...

some goofball (me) was playing with anodizing in his garage and did a few parts for Dutch... (red and purple) though the dyes used were not UV safe.

Dutch then found a local shop and had a set of parts done professionally. given the setup costs, I don't think it was ultimately worth it... though I have some orange Dutch quilt hooks...

now if there is enough demand, maybe the world's greatest hiker can be convinced...but it drives up his labor and part costs...

Anybody coming up to MAHHA this weekend will have a chance at some in the raffle and who knows maybe I will have a couple extra peices of orange floating around my car.

I'm always watching. I had anodized a bunch of parts because the anodizer charges the same for 100 or 1000 parts. I kinda like it but it is a little against my philosiphy of producing parts that function using a minimalist approach. Anodizing adds to the cost with not really improving performance. It's not a terribly expensive process, but it does cause some rejects and that is unneeded waste. Keeping every thing in the manufacturing process to its absolute bare minimum is the best lesson my thru-hike taught me. The rest of the stuff I learned was forgotten when I had to get a job.
However the orange parts sure do look pretty and I am glad to give them away as treats or put in raffles. Everybody has Dutch Clips, but onl a few can boast having orange ones.
    Peace Dutch
