Well i got it real bad, i have to listen to my creek babel 50yrds out my backdoor, i have to listen to the owls, crickets, and katydids at nite and in the mornings the birds are out of control, my driveway is a deadend and 1 mile long and the gravel road that takes me to town is 13 miles long. Thats also the same distance to the closest bar,car alarm,factory...ect. my closest Walmart is 27 mi away. Its been so long since ive heard a train i didnt even think they used them anymore(lol)I once had a neighbor that had a dog that barked all night, but him and i had a prayer meeting and lets just say he got religon. i don't own a TV and i don't want one either! I live so far out in the woods it takes an hour and a half to get 60 minutes on TV(if i had one). Its not heaven but its in the same zip code. Thats why i decided to build a campground(campair)in the mtns of east Tenn. "ya'll come see us, ya hear"

Heckuva picture you paint, cracker. If I ever get to that side of the River again, I'll look you up.

Before I bought our place, I visited several times with a chair and cigars, and just sat by the river and listened. When I was satisfied, I made an offer.

Surprisingly it is usually fairly quiet in my yard, considering I live in Myrtle Beach SC. Some traffic noises but I am used to that. The neighbors have learned that most loud noises after 2300 are not tolerated and are much more considerate these days. Usually spend 3-4 nights a week outside in all weather types. And the loudest sounds are my Husky trying to get off the deck to sleep under me.

Very loud. One reason I go out in the woods so often.

Not as load as some would think

I live in the middle of a residential subdivision on 1/4 acre lots about 200 yards from a heavy use secondary road and 1 mile from a Fire House.

Except for the odd weekend one of the neighbors is having a party the back yards are very quiet except for the occasional dog.

You can hear the larger vehicles out on the main road and the emergency truck's sirens. Around 3:00AMish you can hear the trash trucks banging the dumpsters 2 miles off to the east and around 5:00AM you can hear the train down by the river 2 1/2 miles away.

You have to really listen to hear the far off sounds and I've hear the same while up in Uwharrie.

It all depends on the time. Midnight to 4 is usually silent except for crickets. 4-8, ill hear a couple of motorcycles going off to work followed by a train and then a little road noise .
8-noon, a lawn mower, barking dogs and the ups guy. Noon-4 more of the same.4-8 neighborhood kids playing ball and bike riding. 8-mid crickets, dogs and motorcycles. I like crickets, trains, motorcycles & kids.

I am lucky to live on a small farm off of a gravel road. It is quiet in the area except for the animals (wild and domesticated) and the occasional helicopter flights into the secret government location on the mountain ridge above my house.
