Since they are at an angle, the apex of the large triangles end up being further apart - somewhere just slightly over 16 feet.
Got it. Mmm guess its not easy to just make the distance between the cross-poles a foot further or so?
Where oh where did i leave those 17' ridge poles...??

I definitely wouldn't want to extend it any more. In fact, I'd almost prefer to take a foot or two off, but that would make it even tougher to figure out a good way to rig the tarp.

I guess I could go with a smaller tarp, but that's crazy talk

I set up a jig and got them drilled/installed accurately enough that all tubes are interchangeable. The snaps are much nicer than having to tape the connections.

    Thanks again MM.

If I ever end up dealing with the Boy Scouts I'm definitely going to be building myself one of these. Awesome job, MustardMan.

does anybody know the absolute cheapest place to obtain some flexible tent poles that I can use to build an arch to support the tarp? Walmart sells replacement Coleman poles, but it is $10 for about 8 feet worth of them, and some of my ideas could use significantly more than 8 feet worth.

The ingenuity of HF members is awesome. Great work there Mustardman. On the poles for the tarp, try garage sales for old dome tents.
