    How about this, Andy?

NAM/Wrf Sea Level Pressure and Precip http://weather.unisys.com/nam/nam.ph...nddiv=hide_bar

The different tabs for surface, 1000mb, 850, etc let you look at different levels of the atmosphere to compare temps, wind, barometric pressure, dewpoint, etc. To the left margin there are other models to look at. GFS/Avn forecasts the same output to make it easy to compare to the NAM. The GFSx/MRF is a 9 day long range forecast.

Looking at these raw model outputs, and comparing it to the NWS meteograms, one can get a good idea of what to expect. The forecast discussion at the NWS site (found in a link at the bottom right of the page) http://forecast.weather.gov/product....n=1&glossary=1 is good to understand what's going on in the atmosphere without getting the hype typical of TV meteorologists. Make sure you click on the current/previous tabs to get the latest info. Every 12 hours the short term discussion is posted. Periodically thru the day there is an update aimed at pilots that is less helpful for the masses.

Bottom line: After a breezy Friday at Buck Lake, the winds should lie down and we'll have a great, mild weekend.

    Dinner Bell is finished

The dinner bell has the final touches applied. The D-crew has tested it. D3 said, "That's loud!" It should be able to communicate across the lake. I didn't know for sure if I would get it done. It has rained ALL week (6+"), and is still raining. Snow is forecast for the afternoon and evening. Not much here in the valley, but enough to potentially alter our planned departure time. As soon as the ground turns white, most folks lose any sense of calm on the roads. Being the first snow of the season for us, I expect mass insanity. The mountains are expecting up to 16".
