Laid there in the hammock last night thinking of everything I need to pack and the memory sucks, I'll take a scratch pad tonight.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

    what is the area like

More specifically what's the parking gonna be like are we going to have to hike in or can we pull in and then set up by our cars? Also what about the tree space are there enough trees to go around?

You should be able to pull up within ten yards to a quarter mile of your site, depending on which one you choose. If you want to hike in, there are several choices of trail head for the Florida Trail, which runs to within 1/2 mile of the campground.

There is a 1.7 mile trail that goes around the lake. You might not be able to camp next to your car, but there are enough trees.

The sites closest to the common area are open enough for tent campers and I would suggest that we leave those sites for our folks coming with tents or bringing kids.

    Hope that helps!

I hope to make it down for this event.

You should be able to pull up within ten yards to a quarter mile of your site, depending on which one you choose.
So, this is not your typical State Park with camp pads and specific, numbered, lots for camping? More WMA than campsite? I guess having a backpack to haul gear would be in order? I would have my sea kayak. Can I paddle to a site or is the lake too small for that?

The lake is plenty big for paddling. I'm hoping to get in an early morning paddle or two this year. We are planning to bring three SOT recreational yaks to putz around in.

If you have a lot of gear you can always drop it off in the common area before turning around to go park back up the entrance road. You can drop your boat near the boat launch, no one will bother your stuff (at least not without asking first!)

I use my backpack to hike in & find my optimal spot although those with car camping or abundant gear seem to find places close enough to their cars as well.

I see no prob with you probably finding a spot to hang at from the shore of the lake in your boat but it might be just as easy to hike in because of no true shoreline in places.

The trees are abundant and the sites are primitive. But there is running water in the main camp area via a large pump and two pit toilets.

This is as good a time as any to mention that we must remember to bear bag or keep our food in the cars though. This is a wildlife management area and there be critters to recon with!
