    New member from Southern Illinois

Hello everyone. New member from Southern Illiinois. Just getting into hammock camping. Right now my set up is an appalachian hammocks custom and a warbonnet superfly tarp. I dont have an underquilt yet. I've camped a few nights in the low 20s and i've used a neoair sleeping pad and a patrol bag from USGI sleep system as a top quilt. I got a little cold but I wasnt miserable. I'm definitely wanting to add a top quilt and underquilt before next fall though. I'm married with 2 kids and we do alot of car camping together as a family, but I like to get out solo also in the hammock. I've tried to get the wife into hammock camping but she said she feels to vulnerable and prefers the security of a tent. haha.

I'm really happy with appalachian hammock, but I'm intrigued by the Warbonnet blackbird with the footbox and integrated bug netting, so I might go that route sometime soon. I'm glad I found this site. All the credit goes to Shug and his youtube videos. He mentions this place constantly so i had to finally register. I'd been lurking for months, but decided to become official.
