I got some ripstop from JoAnn's a while back and I'm looking for a use for it. It seems to be waterproof. I was hoping to make a tarp, but I got my Kelty 12x12 in and I have no need now. Its also too short (two 3 yard long pieces) to experiment with a weather proof sock. So, what are some other uses for it?
Gear bags, stuff sacks, ridgeline organizers, PIF fodder (when you get there), etc.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
Snake skins, python skin, stuff sacks, many many things can be done with the fabric.
Pillow. Waterproof may be sweaty though.
Hammock chair, gear hammock...chances are it's not waterproof unless it was sold as such. Water beads up and runs off of calendared nylon (at first) giving the false impression it's water proof.

Hammocks for your kids if you have any. Or parachutes for their gijoes...I used grocery bags growing up, nylon chutes would be a heck of an upgrade...
