Thumbs up VIDEO: Sam Knob/Flat Laurel Creek October 11-13

Planned this trip some time ago. Decided to have a dad and sons type
trip, introducing my dad and brother to hammock camping. Left from the parking area of Shining Rock wilderness on Thursday afternoon and headed off on the Sam Knob trail. Took it easy on my pop, and made the summit and then camped down by Laurel Creek that night. Got pretty windy, but the new Big Daddy tarp worked like a charm Awoke Friday morning and headed back out the Flat Laurel Creek loop back to the parking area. Not sure, but all in all only about 4 miles, once again takin it easy on the ole man Headed out Friday and picked up my son and then back to John Rock for some lolly gag camping. He had been in the hammock a bit, but this would be his first night. He made me proud and slept through the night. All in all we had a great weekend together and enjoyed one another and the Great Outdoors! Thanks and hope you enjoy

Yes, thanks for sharing. I need to get back up there. Last time, it was in a tent, and most of the spaces near the creek were taken. This time, I'll be prepared with the hammock

Yes it is a great area. Yeah not a lot of hammock sites right on the creek. If it helps I believe this sight was only about 200 yards down laurel creek after it intersects with sam knob trail and there is room for at least 4 hammockers and it is right on the creek.
