    noob question

The greatest thing about this forum is not feeling like a complete idiot when asking questions...

So here goes... I have been trying to figure out where to put my boots so I can keep them off the ground and dry?

I was thinking about running another line just below the hammock low point between the trees so I could hang a small pack, boots gear etc....

Any suggestions especially when the weather starts to get real cold and nasty?

Sit in youre hammock, take youre shoes off and then tie the laces together around your ridgeline then push them all the way to the foot end of your hammock then toss em out and zip it closed. Youre shoes are now protected as much as you are from the elements (depending on your tarp) except they are not getting sand and junk inside. As far as hangin a bag, i just hang stuff on my hammock whoopie with biners. And ive had alot of stuff hanging on it. It looks like it pulls the hammock funny, untill you get in then all is well.

    duh....

Actually, it's an issue I struggle with. I typically just put them on the ground beneath my hammock BUT worry if it does rain heavily I might have an issue with running water.

Since I backpack in lightweight minimalist shoes (except in snow) AND with my recent conversion to structural ridgeline I think it makes a lot of sense to hang them from the ridge line as mentioned by skinnys11.
