    Radiant Bubble Pad

    Hello out there,

Does anyone have any reccomendations for the use of the radiant bubble pad from HH? I was planning to try it with a thermarest prolite and a sleeping bag. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    DRF

Welcome DRF! I have no information on the bubble pad but this'll bump your post back to the first page. I'm sure there are a bunch of folks here who can shed some light on the subject. You've joined a great crowd!

Check out Hennessy's page. The Reflectex pad is the mainstay of their cold weather bottom side strategy. Just make sure you make it wide enough at the shoulders. They taper theirs from shoulder to foot end. With some creative cutting and reattaching via taping you could taper the bottom half and widen the upper half! No waste and no extra expense! I use the pad with the two layer Deep Jungle - fits like a glove. I discovered that sleeping in a fleece top eliminated the occasional clammy feeling. Hennessy also recommends wearing fleece - information is at the bottom of this link. http://hennessyhammock.com/articles/...ather_camping/

I trust the radiant pad to 40 degrees (YMMV) and have slept comfortably warm to 23 degrees in the supershelter.

So what they are saying is that I should have this with SS system, or can this work if I use it inside the hammock?

    Thanks,
    DRF

I use it inside my HH Explorer. There are rings/clips on the pad that attach to the rings/clips inside the hammock.

I'm mentioning my experince with both individual systems. Hennessy hammocks made within the past year have ring/clips inside the hammock.

It was designed originally to be used between the layers of an HH Deep Jungle I think, all by itself. I think the rating is about 40F by itself for most folks. It could also be used inside other hammocks with all the usual problems of a pad in a hammock, like keeping it in place. It is an alternative to the HH Super Shelter, which is probably warmer.

Or, it can be used with the HHSS, for even more warmth when combined.

The stuff is called Reflectix. Works ok. Most here use them for leg and sit pads... I spray glued some fleece to mine for use in my topquilt. Works good for my legs.
