This goes back quite a few years. At the time you could count the active DIY folks on two hands and not have to take off your shoes. Now you would need several barefoot friends.
Those of us guys who had learned at an early age were getting questions from people who were interested, but intimidated, by a sewing machine. So we started joking about how it was nothing more than a power tool and all "guys" are comfortable with power tools.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

I'll have to admit that it took me way too long to figure out that the guys here were calling the sewing machines a 'thread injector'..
Cute name by the way!!
I kinda like the name but it makes me want to figure out some girly names for all the power tools I own Fairs fair right!!
I like the term thread injector...sure makes it sound tough!! I ran a craft room in an RV park in florida for a few winters and MY craft room was full of power tools, not all the flowery, beady stuff the old ladies were used to. My old ladies ran routers, saws and drills and had so much fun that the husbands just had to come too!! Love it...now I have to drag out my thread inector and make a few bug nets for the grandkids hammocks!
That's exactly how I learned to sew. I went on to the advanced class.

Way to go, Gunner! High fives on your thread injector diploma! That's outstanding! (and my wife was impressed when I sewed my button back on the other day...)
I think it's great that you and your wife jumped in and took the class, together no less!
