Giving my HH Exped Asym Zip some love

I haven't slept in my HH Exped Asym Zip in over a year, maybe two. It was my first hammock but I'm kinda hooked on the longer hammocks (BIAS WWM, tablecloth) with independent bugnets now.

Nevertheless, I took out the Hennessy to give it some love. I added whoopie slings some time ago, but added Dutch Buckles to the straps.

Then I went to work on the tarp. I added a Zing-It 1.75 mm continuous ridgeline with soft shackle prusiks, then a Dutch Hook and a Flyz.

Not sure why I'm doing this - I just wanted to have a 4th complete hammock/tarp setup in case I need it for family/friends. I have no plans on ever sleeping in it again - I think it's too short for my 5'11" frame because I always got calf cramps. And once I got a calf cramp, I couldn't get out of the zippered bugnet without a severe panic attack (it's hard to find the zipper when you're writhing with pain from a calf cramp).

Anyway, the HH Exped is packed up, Dutch bling'd, and ready to go as a loaner, waiting on its next adventure.

next time you get one in or out of a hammock, just roll your foot side to side, kind of like the movement an airplane when the pilot wiggles his wings to say hi to folks on the ground, this works every time, no more pain.

I will always love this hammock, since it got me off the ground with minimal research (too many choices). However, when you look at the money I've put into it, I could never get that back on resale. It's not like I'm selling a WBBB.

Here's what this setup would cost you new, assuming no DIY:

$169.95 HH Exped Asym Zip w/stock tarp
    $14 Dutch Buckles
$9 New straps to work with Dutch buckles (HH straps too wide)
    $18 Whoopie Slings
$34 1.75 mm Zing-It and Dutch Bling continuous ridgeline

    $244.95 total

I got a better idea - find a hammock where you don't get calf cramps! I converted to an 11 ft. BIAS hammock and haven't gotten a calf cramp since. If they built an 11 ft. Exped Asym Zip I'd buy it in a second - it's a very sturdy hammock, just too short.
