    Hammock in a Yurt?

Has anyone hung a hammock in a yurt before. I like to yurt camp, and have stayed in a few, but have never hung in one. I think I might try it out this winter at a yurt I can hike into.

will it support it? some yurts here are definitely not strong enough.

I was in a yurt not to long ago and hung on one of the individual rafters and it held me (170 lbs). The yurt I was in had 2x6 construction.

That is when I realized that it could be done. But I just haven't heard of anyone doing it.

I think that it depends on the yurt. The yurt that I stayed in one winter would not structurally support a hammock, but I think that the crazy 6 x 6 posts that the bunks were made out of would!

This is true. And good point on the bunks. I hadn't really given that good consideration. I think this is what I might try if I have to opt out of using the rafters.

We did a family reunion in heber, Utah at a camp with yurts. It was cool. These yurts were pretty solid and I hung from the rafters. I also brought a stand just in case the rafters didn't work.

Look at this beast! weatherport-18-wide-yurt-interior-gallery-1-300x199.jpg You could definitely put a hammock in this monster of a yurt. hahaha. This picture is from WeatherPort's yurts. Man, after looking them up, I want to live in a yurt.
