    New guy from North Houston

Hello, I figured it would be a good time to introduce my self on here. I've been lurking with out posting for a while. My name is Kevin and I live in Houston TX.
I stumbled on to hammocking a few years ago. I'm not really an ultralight guy or a hunter. Most of my camping experiences are on road trips with friends to travel to many of the world class concrete skateboard parks around the country. Not that I don't care about bulk or weight, since I carry every thing i need in my one bag. They DIY portion of this forum is one that I will be heavily studying. Also interested in some local group hangs. I'm very much a visual learner, so some hands on knowledge gathering with some people with more know-how is something that I am very much in need of.

Come on up to the November Texas Hang next month and get to know everybody. There's a couple of us from the Houston/East Texas area that hang every now and then. We'll likely do the Lone Star Trail agaion in February, and a couple of practice hikes between now and then.

Very cool way to spend your time - would love to see a video of all the parks you've visited. Hello and Welcome from Canada!

Yep, the Novemer Hang in Fairfield would be a great chance to learn. Now, for a smaller-scale thing if you just want a few quick pointers that's a touch closer, I'll be at Huntsville State Park with my wife and a few friends in one of the shelters (though several of us will be hanging outside the shelter) -- if you just want to drop by and say hello, we'd be happy to share a few tips, if you can't make the big Fall Hang
