    New guy from WA

    Well today I bought a Equip Travel Hammock from Wally World so I thought I should register at this forum after lurking for a few months. I have not tried it yet but hope to at least try it in the garage soon. I've already have a Kelty Noah 9 tarp I ordered from Cabelas online yesterday for $39.95!! I already plan to make some woopie slings for it, but have not decided about how to tie to a tree yet (other than the Wally World rope has to go). I've never really hammock camped before but hey it's gotta be better then the ground! I sure appreciate the amount of information on this forum. It is without question the place to go for anything hammock!!

    I started with that very hammock. Personally, I like the hammock but haven't tried any other store bought set up...

    I would experiment with setting it up in stock form first if you are unfamiliar with hammocks, and then work on different ideas you want to try. That way, you should have a better understanding about what works and what doesn't work for you in particular... You will also gain an understanding about various rigging configurations, knots, how to get in/out, how high to hang, sag, etc...

    That said, I moved to straps and descender rings, then made my own hammock.
