I'm not sure that 5lbs would count as "super light" in my book.

I do love my Wiggy's though. He makes nice bags.

It truly is a quite an ironic name for this bag!

It does seem a bit of a stretch, doesn't it? But, it is an X- long and wide zero hooded model. So to compare with a couple of long zero down quilts, ( actually, I'm looking at 5-10F quilts) that will be about 3.75 lbs, plus hood wt. Then again, those quilts would actually be a good bit wider, adding both to get the width.

The thing about the Wiggy's would be synthetic plus most likely heavier duty shells and of course zippers, probably also pretty heavy duty. It does make you wonder what is the weight of the non-Super light model! A CS TQ or UQ could be made that would save some weight if desired. But a person will never have to contend with drafts if zipped up in this ( rather overweight) baby!

IMO, other than just using the common sense that you will be more comfortable in any bag that is not soaking wet, you really do not have to worry about water in this model. I feel even if it did get wet or a lot of condensation happened on a longer trip with little drying sunshine, it would still offer a fair bit of insulation and more importantly simple body and or hot water bottle heat would dry it very quickly. Just my opinion ( could be wrong ) based on my own experiences with Climashield and other synthetic insulations.

So there are trips taken under certain conditions where an extra lb or 2 can give considerable peace of mind.

The final thing which pulled me to Wiggy's was the EnLIGHTened Prodigy quilt made with Climashield Apex 8 and rated to +15 F, weights about 2 lb. It is very nice TQ - but feels bit fragile. When hiking and tired I do not want to stress about gear going broken. Wiggy's materials are bombproof - if that is possible when talking about sleeping bag.

I also think that extra weight put to the bombproof sleeping bag can be taken out from other gear. There is no need for extra clothing or similar back up solution when sleeping bag is warm, does not loose it's insulation ability or does not loose it's insulation as has sometimes happened when down bag melts in camp due to fire accident.

Summa summarum - bigger, more dependable and better bag means less and lighter other stuff.

I've had an overbag for wiggy's FTRRS system (+35degF) and the Antarctic for a number of years now. Great bags and they are really bombproof, they dry quickly and clean-up well. Extremely well made for their purpose, thou with a different warmth feel than down bags. Wiggy's is great to deal with too. Great bag.

    The Weight

Just measured the bag. Using a very high quality house hold scale.

And the weight with the compression stuff sack and with the excellent pillow is 2,8 kg which is 6,2 Lbs or almost 100 oz. It's HUGE would D.Trump say...

So here are the first results, maybe I should measure the Antarctic bag also...
