I was watching some of shug's videos, and that hammock pillow looked very verycomfy and useful. I hate trying to dig my pillow out from under my but after I have crawled into my hammock for the night. So... I figured i would try my hand at making one.
I started with two pieces of 1.1 rip stop.
The top portion i cut 18"x13"
Measured & cut out 2" squares from the corners.
Then sewed the resulting square edges together to make a three dimensional top. (Hope this makes sense) approx 14"x 9" x 2"
The second panel for the bottom, i measured 14"w x 16" long
Starting from the bottom(14" side) i measured up 9" and drew a line with a crayon.
Along this line i made a mark at center (7") and marked the center at the top.
I then drew lines on each side from the top center mark to the 9" line on each side. The result is a house shape. I then add 1/2" to the "roof" on each side to allow for a rolled hem.
Then sew the two pieces together inside out as you would making a synthetic UQ.
Leaving a short side open to stuff. I used leftover climashield from previous UQ .
Stuff it, pin the top and bottom together, tuck the cut edges in as on an underquilt, and sew together.
Next attach a piece of grosgrain ribbon or anything else to make a loop, then put on a piece of shock cord and attach to the ridge line.
Weighs in around 3 /1/2 oz
Nice and cozy. Climashield is very warm
