    lady hammockers? help!

i have a good friend (a lady) who may be catching a little hammock fever. she likes to go with me but has shown hesitancy at the idea of a group hang.. i think it mite be bc of the thought process that this is an overwhelmingly male hobby. i have explained there are lots of female hammockers out there ( i know ur out there bc i see ya postin things from time to time.) she's one of my best friends and i would love to show her a ton of replies here to spark that courage. welcome wagon ya digg? also im single and looking for bush barbie... so there is that

there are tons of women hangers out there, I'm sure you'll get a lot of replies on this thread to prove it too. It's not a man's world out there in the piney woods, it's a hanger's world!

We're here! Show her this picture.. All the women look happy even if we are outnumbered. Larger, more private tarp is good for a group hang. Pitch where there is a bit more privacy.

My wife is a hanger, she's not on the forum but loves the hammock. No disrespect intended to us fellas but women tend to "class up" a group hang to a degree, if ya know what I mean My wife has gone to some smaller hangs and always enjoys herself and I think it plants a bug with some other guys to bring their wife next time too.
    Good luck,

Right here!! I'm a girl! In fact it was I who got Mr. Pips interested in hammocks. Now we hike and hang every week!)

Another female about to enter the wonderful world of hammock sleeping.

And yes, a larger tarp with end caps means that I will have the privacy of a tent without the crawling around on my knees!

My wife is a hanger as well. She loves her hammock and love backpacking. She is not a cold weather camper so she will not stay at the next hang but probably visit.

Actually, this is a subject that has come up before! Show her this thread. I have been to a couple of hangs, and I'm happy to report that the men don't just burp, snort, and fart. (At least not the WHOLE time! ) It's just like any other social occasion or get-together, except you get to do it in the piney woods!

I think that the only reason hammocks may be perceived as a 'male hobby' is that, unfortunately, camping, in general, is seen as a 'male hobby.' Hammocks are for anyone who wants to camp in comfort!

Here's the group photo from the CO Fall Hang, where temperatures dropped down to 12F overnight.

Three women out of a group of 13 isn't half bad... and this was a pretty dang cold weekend. The ladies are just as tough as the men.
