No Sew Poncho Liner TOP Quilt (PLTQ) - DIY

Set about making a top quilt out of a PL today. I tried just tying the laces together, but wasn't really satisfied. Nothing super ground breaking, but I did't really see anything besides the sewn version on here, so thought I'd share what I came up with:

First fold the PL in half the long way:

Next loosely tie the strings at the corner together. I just used a single overhand knot. They will be secured later.

El Gato Comfort Test (TM) is optional:

Fold the edge over. I fold it three times:

Take the roll and bring it around in a loop:

Tie a knot in the fabric. I used a square knot:

Tie all the ties together from each end. I used a slipped square knot:

Tie the middle ties on the long end together:

Tada! You're done! Make's a quick PLTQ with as closed a foot box as possible, without sewing!

That looks pretty good. I really like the way you closed the foot box, much easier than what I did. I cut a slit in the bottom edge binding, feed a cord through from end to end and cinched the end shut. I also used the edge ties to close off the TQ up to about my knees. works good enough for me.

Wouldn't safety pins be a less-bulky way to close off the foot box?

When I was "Down Range" I would whip the end of my PL with gutted 550 cord to keep the length I like and then do the ties in the middle... Looks good

Whipping could definitely work too, especially if you need more length. For me, at 5'9" the length is perfect so I can pull it comfortably over my head, and the middle ties are at my knees.

You could try safety pins, but I'd worry about them coming undone and poking you, or your hammock. And they could still allow for air gaps. The knot isn't really all thank "bulky". When in the hammock I don't notice it at all.

I'm only 5'7" and for some reason I have always pulled it over my head and tucked it under the mini pillow I picked up from Military Clothing Sales.

Are you whipping the poncho/ footbox around the hammock?
    Thanks for your time.
