Summer UQ + 3 Season UQ = Winter UQ ?

Surely I am not the first to think of this but has anyone/any vendors worked on a combo UQ system where a Summer UQ and a 3 season UQ can be fastened together to form a proper Winter UQ? I know people have combined quilts before but if a vendor came up with this system it would be versatile enough to cover a wide range of weather and be easier to set up if they are designed to be used separately or together. I imagine it would need a removeable suspension so it can be used in all three different modes. Thoughts?

I've been able to make that concept work by making the quilt hang lengths adjustable and using an under quilt protector.
Each quilt hangs on its own system. My DIY, 80% length, synthetic kid's sleeping bag conversion snugs up under the hammock and my 40* HG quilt goes below that in the quilt protector. I've also added a hammock sock ala Fronkey bug net style, and it stays warm. Hasn't dropped below freezing much here, so I have not been able to test it in really cold temps.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to hear from some of our vendors as well.

I am planning on a winter setup with 20 degree, 40 degree and UQP. One of fhe attractive points is that I can buy piecemeal. A combo package, while attractive, would be incredibly cost prohibitive, at least for me.

I was thinking the same thing the other day, although I was wondering about either snaps or buttons as a way to connect them and not have to use more suspensions. It strikes me that the quilts would have to be sized to allow for maximum loft without compressing. It seems like a good evolutionary step in quilts.

I've done it a few times. Left them on their own suspensions to eliminate sag. Done the end-to-end and the stack.

Yeah, I was wondering about snaps or maybe some quilt hooks around the perimetre that could be used to fasten the two quilts together or indiviidually fasten them to the hammock.

Basically I guess I'm wondering if a modular system has ever been tried.

Since I am waiting for a winter UQ, I have been using the same concept as winter clothing - layering. At the Jersey Winter Hang I put together a system of : an old blue cotton moving pad between the hammock layers, then a fleece blanket snugged- up under the hammock using Grip Clips, next my full length 30* AHE New River UQ, and finally an UQ Protector fro 2QZQ. This system took me into the low 20s with no problem at all! I like the layering concept, as the comfort level can be adjusted by adding or shedding layers.

I think a designed, matched layering system would be have a great attraction to many, and we could buy and build the system we needed for our own locales.

Great idea, a lot of us are DIYing it today anyway.

I was just thinking about the same thing last night. I saw a video on a custom made UQ that had a liner that was made of Cuben Fiber. Having said that what about making a UQ upgrade that has both outer and inner fabric of Cuben Fiber?

Perhaps the UQ upgrade could have tie loops at various intervals to be attached to the outer UQ.
