    Thread Strength Choice?

Im getting ready to start on my Bridge Hammock today but have run into the problem of what thread to use?

I got two; Coats Cotton All purpose and Costs Extra Strong.

I think the Extra Strong is nylon its self

The women at the store said that nylon might not hold as well on the nylon of the webbing and the fabric.

As long as the thread is 100% Polyester, you should be fine. It should say on the spool somewhere.

nylon thread can raise hob with the tension system on the machine. It stretches. Some folks have been able to use it but I have never had any luck with it. I would advise 100% polyester of a high quality. Not the cheap stuff and not Wally world. You don't know where that stuff has been. Get your thread from a fabric store or one one of our fine vendors on the forums.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I'd stick with the 100% poly.

I picked this up at Wally-World and it's 100% polyester outdoor thread :

I searched at JoAnn's Fabrics and asked the nice Ladies that worked there, but they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

    If you're going to Joann's, Gutterman Sew-all 100% polyester...

You really don't need extra strength thread for sewing 1.1 ripstop... That said, I use the stuff that Scott from DIY Gear Supply sells... It's a little heavier than the GP stuff . . . it's just overkill...

Nylon or Poly 100% will be fine....

No Cotton or cotton core as it will not hold up in outdoor use.

Unfortunately, we no longer have fabric stores in our town, so I typically buy my thread from Wal-Mart. Have used the Coats&Clark 100% polyester Outdoor thread with good success, but for most work I use their heavier stuff labled as "Upholstery Thread." This stuff is polyester and has worked 100% perfect for me thus far, plus it's A LOT stronger than the outdoor thread.
