    Hello from Northern Alberta :)

    Hey Everybody,

I'm new here so I just thought I would take a moment to introduce myself...and hopefully run into a person or two from my area to "hang" with

I used to go tenting and fishing like crazy...then as I got older life got in the way and all that slowly tapered off...and for the past four years I have basically done nothing but work.

In the spring I resolved myself to at least try and get some fishing in...and I did. I managed to make it out for a day of fishing...it was amazing. I caught 33 Pickerel in just a couple of hours...don't worry I let them all go Its like the Universe was telling me to get outside and enjoy life...and I've promised myself to do exactly that.

So while I was researching a new tent on you tube for my outdoor adventures, I stumbled upon some of Shug's videos on You Tube.

I love the strong sense of community/camaraderie among all the hammock campers on this forum...and I love how a person is able to "tech out" and rig it up in their own personal way. Its just obviously so awesome...so I decided to take the plunge and just go for it.

At this point...hammock camping is all just theory cuz I have only been able to set it up in my basement.

But here is what I have so far:

    Warbonnet blackbird, double layer.
    MEC silnylon guide tarp.
    Incubator underquilt
    burrow top quilt

loads of fishing gear...(which I have used

I also got a canoe (which I have used)....cuz canoes are just an awesome way to get on the water.

Now i'm in Northern Alberta, and as far as I know there are not very many hammock campers out here...when I tell people about it they think i'm just setting myself up to be a bear pinata.

So if there are any fellow Albertan's out there...lemme know...and maybe we can hang

    Welcome Noob, from North Carolina.
I would take the fish as a sign from the universe as well - time to get out and enjoy the nature.
Plus I'm waiting to see the first ice fishing hammock rig yet, and N Alberta seems like there might be a chance for that.

Sounds like you have some excellent gear to start with. Enjoy!
