Scored some RipStop but have questions

Ok, so I got 10yrds of 1.1oz ripstop from a parachute maker. I was told this material has a coating on it but I am wondering if it is just water resistant or could it be water proof and good enough to make a tarp? Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

Take a small bit and pour water in - squeeze. Also try to blow thru it. If you can't blow thru it at all, it is water proof.

Great advice. I tried both and even though I couldn't blow air through it I could squeeze water though it. I will have to say that it took a fair amount of pressure. As a reference you wouldn't want to squeeze a not to ripe tomato that hard.

    Here's a dumb question...

If it was completely water proof could you still squeeze water through it if you tried hard enough ?

ask the maker if it is Zero P (silnylon is called zero porosity in the parachute world) Might be a new tarp in the making
