    Questions on uq hanging

I have an incubator full length uq and a couple times since I've used it, I found I can feel the shock cord running along channels on either side of the quilt when I'm laying in the hammock. Has anyone found the same?

I usually feel the cords when I'm trying to lay diagonally to get the flat lay; as the quilts seem to be set up not to have a foot box or made for a-sym lay. I have a HHDJ so it is a fairly long hammock so pulling the cords pretty tight. Is there other methods that could amend the slight discomfort? I've thought of triangular thingies to reduce the tension but would that affect the tightness & increase drafts coming in to the uq so getting the cold butt thing?

Good question, tension seems to be around the feet area. I learnt the hammock tieouts needs to be loose or else the tension comes on my shoulders & slips down as well. I can get into a fetal position fine but when I stretch out I can feel the tension around the feet. Is it that I'm not centred enough in the hammock & I'm too far down one end by the feet area, or the uq is the same? I feel the uq wraps around the shoulders fine but its just the feet area is the nightly sleep disturbance.

    Hello

I also have an incubator and also it is my first underquilt. The first time i used it i wasn't cold but wasn't toasty warm...there are so many variables that can be wrong. Line tensions, air gaps, not tight enough...over tightening. Upon making some adjustments and taking it for a recent weekend hiking in the whites this past weekend where the temps dropped into the upper 30's lower 40's i was toasty warm. It's all about 'dialing it in'
Search for Shug's video's on the forum...especially the one with the underquilts. It's loaded with intel.
Just keep playing with the adjustments...you'll get it. Takes time and patience but well worth it once you figure it out.
As far as the shock cords...i use a HH too and they are not a problem at all. Very comfortable.
Keep posting your results...lots of great folks here willing to help.

Before, the line locs kept slipping until I called Adam and he suggested tying knots on them. Now I have a similar problem, although it doesn't bother me. Once my feet are in the footbox i dont even feel it. Curious on how you solve it!
