    That makes sense, thanks.

Contact me by pm for proof of concept if interested in 1.0mm braided dacron.

It meets your strength criterion, and I can find it (!!) even after relocating. Splices beautifully, is black, but cheap to try --mailing cost +$2 for 50 feet -- and you can see whether such thin stuff really is practicable.
They make these lines in yellow I believe. I do not use prusik knots on mine, just a double overhand on one side to larks head to the tie out and the MSH somewhere on the line with the stake. I've not tried anything else in a while.

Pros/cons? Just easier when dealing with cold?

1.75mm might work, but I'm examining my options. Yellow is great, but I'm curious if there is something around the 1.2mm mark with reflective chaser or the likes.

The lightest stuff I have ever found that isn't thread, is Aircore1 at 1mm it is not far from thread. However, I have not found a supplier for it. BPL has been out of stock for a year.

    http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-...ctra_cord.html

Type. Weight (oz/ft) Diameter (in) Breaking Strength (lbs)
    Triptease 0.0290 0.0875 188
    AirCore 1 0.0040 0.0400 216
    AirCore 2 0.0100 0.0600 327
    AirCore Plus 0.0360 0.1250 1109

Bozeman Mounain works had the Aircore 2, but is out of stock. As far as fishing line, contact a tackle dealer, either local or online. The better ones will spool up new reels with whatever you want, I am sure they will sell you some by the foot.

If you find an Aircore supplier let me know.

I think Shug meant to say 200 lb on breaking strength. That's what the dealer specs show.

1mm Marine polyester covered dyneema is the lightest useable line I've used. Holds knots OK too. Many manufacturers of it around the world.

Usually its 200lb/90kg BS and I've found blue with flecks or orange to be the most visible.

Just a thought: would it be worth putting reflective ties on your stakes instead of needing reflective guylines?

Someone (I think it was Black Wolf, but I might be misremembering) had that at one of the Hidden Pond hangs, and I thought it a good compromise between stealthiness and safety against tripping. The reflective portion is hidden by ground cover from more than a couple dozen feet, but you can still see where the stakes (and, therefore, the guylines) are when you're close enough to trip.

It would also remove the necessity of the guylines being reflective, which opens up more possibilities for type of line.

    Hope it helps!
