Video: Fronkey's sub 10Ib Hammock pack base weight.

Hey Fronkey, another fan of your videos, and this one's no exception. I personally intend to pack light every time but in reality I don't think I'll ever get to sub 10lbs except maybe on a overnight-er. I have developed a lot of "favorites" over the years and not taking them has proven to be difficult. Of course some have gotten lighter as newer versions replace them. One replacement for example was my stove. Can you say Coleman Peak1? I guess my main reason for not packing as light as I should is the fact that every time I go out I want to stay longer. I once went out for a weekend hike in the White Mountains of NH that took a month!

What's important isn't the weight of your pack, but the comfort of your trip. The gear I use is what works for me. If I'm hiking with someone and they want to carry a 40ib pack and are happy on the trail... Good for them. It's great to see people getting out in the woods.
Man, that must have been one heck of a trip. I envy you.

Fronkey, thanks for posting this. I found it very helpful. how do you pack tour stuff. What order etc. could you tell me a bit more about how the digs do in the cold? Do they get pads? Thanks!

Thanks for watching. The order I pack things from bottom to top are...
Sleep system (TQ, UQ, tarp, hammock)
Misc. (headlamp etc)
Clothes
Food

Basically, the stuff I only use for camp goes on the bottom and the stuff I will likely reach for during the day goes on top, like food.

Tala did not use a pad during the trip, but she is a northern dog and doesn't need one in those temps. My dog will be nice and warm even down to minus 40f. Kiba sleeps with me in the hammock.
