If you havent already and your going to starved rock you should definitely goto matthiessen state park which is just south of starved rock and is some of the best trails in Illinois in my opinion.

My sister-in-law has an affinity for Native American culture, so much so that she named her 20 acre property in Australia - Kickapoo.
Even when you call the phone is just answered as "Kickapoo".

Hammock relevance?? They've got some great hang spots.
BTW - the locality they are in is Biddiddabba- mouthful hey!

Weldon Springs has a REALLY nice primitive campsite along their Salt Creek "Backpack" Trail. Technically, it's #6, but there ain't a sign out there to tell you as much. Take the trail as far back as it goes, and it's the site right along the banks of the creek - plenty of trees for a small group of hangers to use, too!

Here's a report I wrote-up on the park and my time there:

Can anyone tell me a little more about Kickapoo SP and the camping options there?

Also was looking at Middle Fork SFWA (passed it on my way to Forest Glen Preserve in Westville)...anyone out there familiar, or been there before?
