    Greenville REI Garage Sale Scores!

Went to the Greenville REI "Used Gear Sale" aka Garage Sale this morning and got some great deals. Yes that is a tent, but i'll do anything to get the entire family in the woods to begin converting them to hangers

Spent $165.00 and walked away with over $900.00 worth in gear. Got a REI Hobitat 4, Exped inflatable pillow, REI Kilo 0˚ down sleeping bag, a pair of LOWA Renegades, and an REI Lite-Core 1.5 sleeping pad.

It is crazy the things people return and the reasons behind it. The pillow and pad "leaked", well they did fine under water in my tub, the tent "had condensation problems" pretty sure that was operator error, and the boots . . . who knows cause they are perfect, especially for $30.00 .

The sleeping bag does have duck tape covering a small tear but the section lofts just as well as the others so I think it is fine, I will be adding a touch of down to it and stitching her up. . btw did I mention I got this for $20.00. The down alone is work at least 3x that - diy project possibly hmmm.

Saw an Osprey pack go for $20.00 due to a small tear in a place that really just didn't matter

    Just figured I would share..

Got these in grey at the last sale for the same price and love them, now I have to decide what color to wear

FIL scores this fold up kitchen for $40.00, normally $120.00. We are now set for car/family camping. Woot!

My REI has theirs next weekend. Now I just have to hold onto enough spare cash to find me a good deal or two and still have money for my anniversary 3 days later.

My REI had its garage sale last weekend. I completely forgot about it and just happened to go there on Sunday as they were packing everything up. I did get a score however, I latched onto a set of like new graphite trekking poles I have been looking at for a few months. $150 retail they were priced at $78 I talked them down to $34.

    Nicely done!

I have the Hobitat 4 and it's a very nice tent. I use it solo for Scout camping, and it's quite luxurious. Really nice to be able to stand up completely inside the tent!

Congratulations! And, best of luck with the family conversion to hanging.

Wish I could make the Atlanta one. I bet there is a ton more merchandise.

I found that after the initial rush, just roam the tables and some great deals, from remorse shoppers, find their way back to the tables.

I thing the conversion will be easier as the squirts get older. First order of business would be to convert the wife

These can be great or they can be dismal. Some of the stuff is just flat worn out, but you can find the occasional gem.
Couple of years back, I got there late in the day with low expectations. But I found an REI Base Camp 4 ($370 tent) marked $60.
I took the time to take it out and inspect it. I actually could not tell it had been pitched at all. So I decided to buy it.
While I was wandering around with it in my cart, the manager came on the intercom and said the sale had just gone to a "fire sale" with everything half-off price marked.
I got the tent for $30.
