I love when new, or newish folks come to a hang. Everyone's like, "Hey, don't bogart the newbie!" And I'm like, "I'm not. It was my turn to talk to them." And MB is like, "Backoff Tubby, Rev says you have to share them." And then Gresh is like, "look at me, I'm all awesome and stuff." And we like, don't argue 'cause he's bigger than us and stuff. And Junebug steals all my new friends 'cause she's cuter. That's okay though, when Gladius goes to set them on fire I'll save their lives so they like me again. Unless Squidbilly saves them first, then I'm just so screwed. Newbies are so cool! They're like empty little Mason jars that haven't been filled with yummy preserves yet.

Bwahahaha!!!! Too funny, Cap! I needed that this morning. For all of you that this will be your first group hang...come prepared to have an awesome weekend. Last year's Sprawl was my first time at a group hang and my main introduction to hammock camping. I didn't know a soul when I set out by myself and traveled 2.5 hours away from home to spend the weekend with 40 or so complete strangers. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and if I had any ideas that I would just be a wallflower and observe during the weekend, those were quickly annihilated as I was completely accepted into the group and made to feel like one of the guys. Listening to all the talk about hammocks, tarps and other gear with all of their funny names like Whoopie Slings and Marlin Spike Hitches made me feel like I had been dropped into a foreign country where I didn't know the language. However, I soon learned that everyone was more than happy to patiently teach a newbie about their setups. Last year was the first group hang for many of us and we have been enjoying frequent camping trips since. I can't wait to meet all of you! Less than two months to go! Whoo Hoo!

thats not so likely until the colder hangs. this years frozen butt hang will be crispy!
