Re: SC Fall Sprawl 2013, Santee SC Sept 20-22

Yes, come!!! There will be plenty of people to lend a helping hand if you need it. Don't worry about a thing. We take care of each other. You can drive back to the camping area to unload and then park in the parking lot which is only about 100 yds away. Can't wait to meet ya'll. It will be a great weekend!

Thanks JBD, I remember you writing that you had come by yourself last year to the Fall Sprawl and thought I could do the same thing! I am much more of an adventurer wannabe than "actual" adventurer. lol

I did, indeed!! I had never done anything like that before, but I sure am glad that I had the courage to! I was welcomed with open arms. Glad I could be an inspiration!

The only amendment to the pics gladius posted up is that the rangers are "usually" ok with us "going in the out way" but we dont need to abuse that during the day hours. There is a limit of cars per camp that are allowed to stay at camp, but for right now unless there is some kind of major reason for it to stay back there, im going to say no vehicles back there to avoid "favorites".

As far as a schedule goes : https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...&postcount=350 is as close to one as we have.

Don't worry about going alone. Folks are very nice and helpful, even if some get a little rowdy with fire. Just pull up a chair around the fire and make new friends. My first hang was up at John's Rock in Pisgah Forest in NC. My husband helped me carry my gear 1.5 miles into the woods on a Friday, then left and came back to pick me up on Sunday. I'm pretty shy, but I had a great time!
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

yeah, ladies are welcome and have nothing to worry about with this group aside from sitting too close to the fire when gladius is around.

lets see if i can remember the ladies off the top of my head:

    JunebugDawn
    BajaHanger
    GrannyPat
    MRS OCLooper
    MotherGladius
CWGLBLD (unofficial name for CWBYBLD's lady friend)

and theres a few other one time hangers that i may have overlooked.

after you unload you park in the main parking lot. and the last pic is the campsite area so id say its about 100-150 yards.

That is what I needed to know is how far the main parking is from the camping area. Being that close I am just going to park there and take a few trips walking my gear to the campground. After that drive I will definitely need to loosen up, a few trips back and fourth from the car to the campsite will do me good.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Good idea. Just use as a loading/unloading area.
