I have a WBBB 1.1 double and it's a great hammock! While attending the Backpacking Arkansas Fall Gathering last weekend, I won a WBBB 1.7 double as a door prize!!!

But it is more than a $180 hammock. I purchased a setup from another cottage vendor on HF. The DL hammock, bug net and suspension were $171 plus shipping. The WBBB is all inclusive of those items, and I can tell you the quality is impeccable.
I bought a BlackBird hammock in the spring and quickly fell in love with it. This is going to be a long winter while I wait to hang again.
I found a good interim solution to staying warm to be a closed cell pad (until I find the funds to upgrade to an underquilt). This one from Jacks 'R' Better is an often overlooked pad:

Just for grins, I went to the Warbonnet site and selected a hammock, tarp, under quilt and top quilt...everything that would be needed to go winter hammock camping in Maryland. The total was $1,025 (added Dyneema line to make guy lines). Gulp!
That is NOT going to get past the finance board (Mrs. BDAABAT)

I'm very new to hammocking and the WB blackbird 1.1 dbl is my first hammock. It is the most comfortable nights sleep I have ever gotten in the woods...ever! So much so, I invested in an UQ and doors for my edge tarp, oh and a top quilt from enlightened equipement...but I'm a bit of a gear junkie! In my opinion, WB's workmanship is top notch, customer service is outstanding and pricing very affordable.
I am a 4 season backpacker but don't know that I will be using my bird this winter. Just so many other variable for winter camping so I think I'll stick with my usual winter set up this year. But hopefully next winter I'll be a hangin'
I justfied my hammock purchases with the idea, if I really didn't like it and find it comfortable - I could always resell it without losing too much money!
Hike on...
