Hey I have one of those. It's great from 35-50F, even wet and windy, but a little hard to vent the legs enough if it gets any warmer. A great choice if you want to be able to bail fast or shuffle around camp in toasty jammies. Pretty goofy lookin and I couldn't fit into it if I was any taller than 5'5".
Thanks Shug, Steve and Pat, I am looking for something thats ultra light to fit my needs the plan is to wear my jacket and get some sort of half bag with legs or a TQ with a MOD, I think it would be easy to sew some legs into an UL sleeping bag then cut the legs apart and remove the hood and zipper (standard sleeping bag to TQ convertion after legs are done)
Some one has to have tried this, I can't be the first one to think of it
I am thinking of testing the idea on a cheaper sleeping bag first to see how it fits.
I had a look at the down pants online and found most are used as outer layers which are heavy and bulky, they have a thicker shell than sleeping bags, to hold up to the use as outer wear, making them weigh far more than a standard sleeping beg which defeats the purpose, monte bell makes a pair but they are base layers and I'm not sure they would be as warm as the foot box of a TQ or sleeping bag
JRB has down sleeves, how about down pantlegs???

maybe Down pants with a good hefty pair of taller down booties. I use a lighter pair of booties to extend my quilt a bit. I can relate a bit I am a roller. I destroy my bed on the worst nights. when in the hammock I am like a bump on a log. this does sound like a great DIY adventure, good luck look forward to some good brainstorming.
