    Prussic at the tarp to single line with a small fixed loop at the end for going over the stake is the THIRD method I've used, and the one I've stuck with. It is a winner.

    I usually just put a marlin spike hitch around the stake and put it in the ground

    +1, infinitely adjustable, no extra cordage. For self-tensioning I just tie a loop of shock-cord around each tarp attach point and leave it there; guyline to the shockcord loop, or if staking very close just put stake through shockcord loop.

    I use to use both self tensioners and prussics, now I just use a single, plain ol' line of Zing-It. Seems easiest for me. KISS, etc...
