    I gotta ask

Are you guys messing with me? I just finished a DIY down TQ (no pics yet) following these directions: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4362. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I stuffed it with about 8oz of down and it looks like I have 2+ inches of loft. But it just feels so light that I have to ask, can this thing really keep me warm down to ~20*? I've never had a down bag before so I'm used to big, thick bags, I feel like you all are playing a prank on me I'm giving it a test hand tonight or tomorrow, so I will see just how warm this thing is.

I wouldnt be warm enough with your UQ, but I tend to sleep really cold. How warm you will be varies alot from person to person (in my experience) Lots of variables----what you are wearing as you sleep, your body metabolism, your body fat, did you eat a big meal right before bed, etc etc. (just wearing warm gloves and a hat make a huge difference as you sleep) You just have to get out there and see what works for you! Also, some people can use a vapor barrior on top of their UQ to add more warmth (like a space blanket or something like that) ----------but some people have condensation problems with that set up. -----it just depends on your body! Everyones different!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

With 2" of loft, the general rule of thumb is 30*.
    YMMV.

I get your doubt, I recently got a down 40* TQ and a 20* UQ, I was surprised by how light and "thin" the TQ was and doubted its ability. My first down other than a jacket. I have been in the high 40's and no problems, several nights I have had to vent, in order be comfortable. Down is amazing.
