    Need help with uq suspension

Hello all, been reading the forums for a while but first time posting. This is my first attempt at an underquilt. It is about a half uq, but really just what i had on hand...about 1.8 ripstop nylon, down from a pillow i had, and all the 1/8" shock cord i had. It has a piece of shock cord ran through the end channels and also a piece at each corner. I'm having trouble getting rid of the gap at the end. If i cinch the channel too tight, then it doesn't wrap around me because of the shortness of it. Should I add a piece of shock cord to the middle of the channel and attach it to the biner also?

It would help to sew a sleeve in the ends and run the shock-cord through that. May solve the dilemma.

I actually have a sleeve sewn in, but after seeing your frankenquilt, it might help me to cinch in from the middle like yours, instead of from the ends. Shug, what are the dimensions of your frankenquilt?

From the picture I see the shock-cord loose on the ends. Being in a channel would draw it up better.
    FQ is about 48x58.

I can't see it properly in your photo but is the shock cord through the channel at both ends and then both ends of the cord tied together (the stuff that is partly sitting on the uq? If yes then that may (or not) be the problem, although I use a snugpak uq atm which has a different suspension system, other uqs (I think) have a cord lock at either side so the cord isn't in a loop.

Sorry if I'm wrong or this isn't helpful but be gentle 'cos I'm still new here!

Your quilt does look cosy though!

I think your're seeing it correctly. The channel ends are just before the grosgrain loops, so it is hard to see. They are held together with the cord lock. The pieces that are on the floor are just 2 separate pieces tied to the loops and joined with a biner. That biner clips on the whoopie. I think it might just be too small. It is just about 38 x 40. The nylon is from Joanns and they only had 1 size. I have no idea about how much down is in it. I just crammed as much as i could without compacting it. And i should have put the down in outside...wife wasn't too happy to have down everywhere. That stuff floats anywhere and everywhere.

Well I got it working pretty well. I added channels to all 4 sides and now it is slideable like shugs fq. I also added an s biner to my ridge line an it pulls it more around my shoulders. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1353101520.101223.jpg
