great pictures! I used to live in Lafayette, and hiked kistache many times!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

There is another spot about 1.5 miles down the trail that has a bunch of oaks with a great view as well. This particular spot was great. Been wanting to camp there for a while.

Kisatchie got some nice areas. The pine beatles had gotten into sections of the forest where we were at making it look ugly. The bottom that you go through on that trail was nice with all the hard woods.

Yeah, I need to get a better camera....camera phones lack a lot of clarity. Sometime in the future, I want to hike the Trail between the Lakes. It's 28 miles thought some decent woods. Your alcohol bottle may travel there too!

It was a good time. If I would have gotten off work early, I would have went to the Texas hang in Fairfield.

That alcohol bottle is Grangers. It will be like a traveling gnome until it is returned to him.

That last picture with the trail winding into the trees...there was drag marks and a blood trail. A few hundred meters up the trail we caught up to two bow hunters with there deer they shot. I found it kind of funny what they told me when they field dressed it. Apparently, there was a couple hiking the trail that morning. As they were field dressing the deer with guts and innards in hand, these hikers walked upon them. The hunters told me these people were grossed out about it.
