Caveman thanks for the reminder to get my wife's hammock done. Finished whipping it this morning, now to just attach the whoopies and give it to for Christmas.

Will regular cordage work instead of shock cord for the knotty mod?

I just finished 2 of these over the weekend. I went with 156"x90". I'm a big guy, 415#, so I went with the ultra secure double layer version. The wife just liked the concept of being able to add a pad between the layers, so she got the same. Sage/burgundy for her and blue/silver for me.
I've been playing with an ENO DN for a while and this is soooo much better. I've had issues getting out of the DN, but no problems with these.
Does anyone see any issues with just using a double sheet bend with 1/8" Amsteel continuous loops instead of whipping? I'm still playing with W/roll/whatever. Don't have access to a thread injector to sew the layers together, so I just laid to layers together and did the pleat/roll, then folded over the end about 5 inches. Used a 20" Amsteel loop to for the sheet bend. Got the idea from http://youtu.be/AJlEQpcbM1I
I just haven't seen anyone doing the double sheet bend with double layers.
After about an hour of hanging it was showing no signs of issues. Let me know what you think. I'm knew to this and want to learn from your experience.
Nope, exactly what I'm doing.
We were just talking about it here.
I've used whoopies and chain links (continuous loops) and cord tied with a double fisherman's knot.
It's all working.
I saw on another thread (which I can no longer find) that the whipping needed to be done differently for a 90" wide tablecloth. Can anyone please throw any light on this?
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
Thanks Caveman.
I have the materials on order but I'm away from home for the next week so won't get to it for a little while. I like that you can just re-whip and that its not the end of the world to do it wrong. However, I think I might have a hard time translating the whipping to the lay of the hammock. In other words I anticipate difficulties with what to do with the whipping if the hammock isn't comfortable.
