question. my tableclothfactory crinkle seems to have weak spots and its only been a week.
did i pull the ends out too much?
do you EVERYTIME have to fold the hammock in a u before flapping together?
No you don't... You can flap from the start... You can also fold it in a "w" where you make the "u" and then bring up the middle... They all change one property or another of the lay... None better than others all subjective... You can even do one end one way and the other end another way and see if you can feel the difference...

What do you mean by "weak spots"? If you are talking about a color difference, that's normal, but if there are actually stretch marks, or thin places, I'm not so sure. Maybe someone else will chime in about that.

I've made several of them and have not had any problems with weak spots (though I did have one with some coloration differences)

    okay another noob question.

My first Tablecloth hammock I did the gathered end as i did pretty well at sewing straight lines. However the whipping would be so much fast i could easily make plenty for the kids, etc.

However, I can not quite picture how you attached the whoopie sligs to the "whipped" end. What am I missing?

With the gathered end I have a loop in the amsteel that I can attach my carabiner too.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

You don't attach to the whipping... You larks head right below the whipping... So that the whipping keeps the larkshead from sliding off...

Is there enough room in the end hems to make a Warbonnet style end? Like this: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...bonnet+whipped

Not that it will, but the suspension could eventually cause the whipping to slip toward the end of the fabric. There's nothing but friction to prevent this. The Warbonnet style end creates a larger ball, for lack of a better term, that makes it impossible for the suspension to slide over the end.

My first hammocks were whipped as Caveman described. They did fine, but when I added a TED bugnet I wanted a cleaner looking end so it wouldn't interfere with the net, so I made channels and gathered the ends.

With a small enough string and some wiggle you could probably run a string through it...

You could get some zing-it through the hem, just keep in mind that those hems are not going to be strong enough to hold any weight. It should work though. I'll try that the next time I order one.

Or if someone has one laying around and wants to try it, let us know
