    Handwarmers for added warmth?

I know the packages say don't sleep with them but we would have never reached space with that attitude. Recently before the UQ I was using blankets and pads. This past weekend I tossed 3 handwarmers between the bedding layers. It wasn't immense heat but it did add. Anyone ever try this between their UQ and hammock to go even further?

Never have tried it but maybe a good idea. I may give it a go.

Never tried it directly between the hammock layer and UQ, but I'm sure it would help. It does seem like a bit of a pricey way to add heat over time, but may be good in a pinch. My only concern would be that they might be a bit tough to strategically place on where you're coldest (feet, etc.).

Personally, I much prefer the hot water bottle trick. Boil water, put in a nice nalgene, wrap the nalgene in something like a thin fleece (I've created a thin fleece sock for it) and enjoy the warm goodness all night. It allows me to easily move it around to the feet, to an armpit, to hug it or to set it aside if I get too hot. And, in the morning, I can drink the warm water or reheat for breakfast. No need to use and throw away the chemical packs.

I have put them in a hooded sweatshirt pocket to keep my body core warm. Will be throwing some in my thinsulate booties tonight. Didn't like waking up with cold feet this morning. Waiting for my Flamethrowers.

I have used these with my DIY light weight UQ. They are nice because they are peel and stick so I stuck them to the bottom side of my hammock between the hammock and UQ and they stayed put and worked nicely. They are larger than the hand warmers.

Las time I was out I used the foot warmer version that sticks to your socks. They worked very well to keep my feet warm.

I use them a lot. Down in the foot box, give them to the wife/kids/dog to give them that toasty feeling (otherwise they might stop coming with me). Buy them in bulk. I like the large size 12 hour with sticky back kind.

I like 'em and always carry some in cold weather. I apply where needed (usually hands and feet), though I might try tossing one into the UQ to generate a little ambient heat.
